Candidate as Leader
Key Assessment: Technology Integrated Lesson Plan
Reflection
The Tech Integration Unit was one of my favorite to develop. I was initially very apprehensive about recording podcasts. I had listened to a few podcasts but had never recorded one myself. What I found was that once I got over hearing myself talk and being scared of messing up, it was quite enjoyable. For my students, it has helped tremendously and has been something I have since incorporated into many units that I teach. Students enjoy the ability to be able to listen to lectures on topics that they may have missed from not being in class. Other students have commented that the podcasts help them review for exams and have served as a way to practice taking better notes.

Task 1: Effective Use of Technology Lesson
Reflection
Teaching teachers is not for the faint of heart. The county in which I work has invested a significant amount of money in making sure that each teacher has an interactive whiteboard. Our system has chosen to use SMART boards and as such teachers have been receiving them in their classrooms. I am on my school's technology committee and volunteered my services in helping train teachers on using their SMART boards.Developing the training was challenging because I knew that my peers would be reviewing it. I was also extremely nervous about delivering the training as it would be to fellow teachers. I found that they were understanding of my situation and I actually received very positive feedback from them.

Task 2: Effective Use of Technology - Distance Learning
|
Reflection
Over the course of this program I have developed countless websites so I wasn't initially concerned about this one. I faced my first challenge when I realized that this website would be viewed by teachers who needed to learn about using the SMART board in their classrooms. I would need to develop the distance learning module carefully so that teachers could learn the very basics first and move through the module encountering increasingly more difficult content. I was able to utilize content from SMART technologies in order to provide videos for the module. I found that writing specific instructions proved difficult as outlaying steps of a process can become cumbersome when typing out individual steps. I did receive constructive criticism as teachers who weren't able to attend the training commented on their use of the site which helped me adapt the site to become easier to navigate.

Task 3: Professional Learning Community Forum
This website serves as a place where teachers at Northside can come and share ideas and collaborate. It is also a place where the administration of Northside can share professional learning activities and updates. These resources can include anything teachers can use to improve classroom instruction all the way to county-wide professional learning initiatives.
